Managing one of the UK’s leading aquatic retailers gave James further hands-on skills in specifying water garden equipment, plants and fish, for projects by landscapers, garden designers, and homeowners.
Water Garden Solutions has been involved with construction projects, pump and filtration schemes, planting, consultancy (and previously servicing), on all sizes of water gardens from water features in town gardens through to small lakes in the countryside.
The current business now concentrates on consultancy, with James Allison personally engaged in all projects, working alongside architects/designers, and customers’ own builders/landscapers.
James also lectures widely on water gardening and related technical topics. He is an award-winning writer with past experience as editor of the International Waterlily and Water Gardening Society’s Water Garden Journal (’97-’04); as a contributor to Practical Fishkeeping Magazine (’86-’07); and as author of the book Water in the Garden.
